As an American, I live in a beautiful city-Chicago. Chicago once was the second largest city in the United States. So, one of its nicknames is “The Second City”. Before I went to China, I always believed that Chicago is the best place to have a tour, for there are many attractions, such as Grant Park, Millennium Park, Marina City, Chinatown, Willis Tower Skydeck, Michigan Avenue and Lake Michigan.The first day
However, whether I admit that or not, China attracts me for its long history and mystery, so I came to China and began my tour. I contacted the China Travel Agency and joined a team. My travel itinerary started from Chicago O'Hare International Airport, the air ticket was arranged by China Travel Agency. We arrived in Beijing Capital International Airport after a few hours fright. Upon arrival, my Beijing tour guide Miss. Li Ping escorted me to hotel for check-in. She is a nice person, who speaks fluent English.
The second day
After I have well resort my energy by a good sleep, we began our travel. As we all know, Beijing is not only the capital city of China, but also a beautiful city to travel. The first day, we visited one of the most famous attractions “Tian’anmen Square”, which is the biggest public square in Beijing. Later, we walked though the big gate of the Forbidden City. My tour guide Miss. Li ping told me that Forbidden City is a heritage from the Ming dynasty. I was amazed at the magnificent architecture designed by the ancient people. For the first time, I had overwhelmed with the feeling of history when stood in front of Forbidden City. We had lunch in Haidilao Hotpot Restaurant. Chinese hot pot was much delicious than I had expected. In the afternoon, we went to Summer Palace, where I had a real touch to these ruined walls, which were destroy in the war. I remembered one China’s sentence “torn is beauty”. Here, I fully understood this sentence. I reminded Grant Park in Chicago, everything in everywhere of the park was well designed, but when I stood in the Summer Palace, It seemed I was wrong in the past days. I used to believe that beauty means complete, just like the beautiful fountain, well designed tennis course in Grant Park, this time, I found beauty in these ruined walls. How stranger!
The third day
Surely, Beijing is a city worthy of long time visiting. We continued our tour for the next day to Temple of Heaven and Great Wall. There were many travelers in Great Wall. We took a cable car for saving time. I was thinking of walking in this ancient wall, however, my dream would not come true this time. Great Wall is a great work not less magnificent than Forbidden City by the ancient Chinese, nobody had idea that how Great Wall were built without any modern tools, even my knowledgeable guide Miss. Li ping could not give us a reasonable answer. We came to Temple of Heaven in the afternoon as planed before. Temple of Heaven is a place where Chinese emperors used to worship God with their sacrifices. High in the mountain, we had to clime hard. Here, once more, I felt impressed by the Chinese.
The forth day
After a few days in Beijing, we took a flight to Xian. In the fright, I was told that Xian is also one of ancient cities where you can experience Chinese charm in any place. Our first destination headed forward Terracotta Warriors and Horses. It was said that Terracotta Warriors and Horses was one of the greatest discovery in China. Magnificent and mysterious, I could not describe my excited feeling. How smart the Chinese people! We took some pictures for the memory. Even though I was a Christian, I went to Big Wild Goose Pagoda to experience the Buddhism culture.
The fifth day
Guilin is a must-see city for Guilin boasts for amazing scenic views known all over the world. We got off fright and met our Guilin tour guide Mr. Wang. Walking alone the Xicheng Pedestrian Street, we sensed that Guilin is quite a lazy city, people walked slowly, here and there. In the evening, Li River was shrouded in a veil of mystery, Sun and Moon Twin Towers stood quite there. We couldn’t tell everything clearly for the dark lights. This was its unique beauty, with mystery. Lake Michigan is also a beauty scenic, but I never had this mystery feeling when I was in Lake Michigan scenic.
The six day
Guilin offers easy access to another scenic- Yangshuo. It cost only 12 yuan for the bus from Guilin Bus Station to Yangshuo, but we did not take a bus, instead, we took a boat started from Guilin Li River, we enjoyed the beautiful scene all the way we passed. In the afternoon, we arrived at the picturesque Yangshuo county. Impression Sanjie Liu is a feast for culture, natural landscape and stage performance.
For the next few days, we visited Longji Rice Terrace, and took a fright to Shanghai. For me, Shanghai is a modern city much like Chicago, so we just had a short stay and finally we came back to Beijing. I got a lot from this trip. I knew that I would come to China for another time because its endless beauty attacks me to pursuit.
